The National Library of Malta is located in the capital city of Valletta. This library is one of the oldest in the world.

The building itself is considered a national monument and is included in the list of
architectural landmarks. This building is considered to be one of the last large palaces that the Knights of St. John built in their capital.

Here, the literature of different eras, including the modern one, is collected, but
the collection of publications belonging to the library of the Knights of Malta is
considered to be especially interesting!

In total, the National Library in Valletta contains over 7,000 important documents
and books.

The construction of the library took 10 years – from 1786 to 1796. The architect of
the building was the Polish-born Stefano Ittar.

Various scientific conferences and events are held in the library from time to time.
